Wakeboarding Tricks - How To Understand The Terminology
Are you a beginner wakeboarder, or are you maybe thinking about getting started? In this case you will need to talk to others who are skilled, and of course you don’t want to sound like a dummy! Here are some of the most basic wakeboarding tricks terms to get you started learning.
Air - One of the most important terms in wakeboarding. When we talk about ‘air’, we’re just saying how much air you got between yourself and the water. So if someone tells you that you had ‘big air’, don’t worry, that’s a good thing. It means you went high!
Bail - This is what we call falling off your wakeboard.
Bindings - This is how you stay on your board: You put on these rubber boots attached to the board.
Bone Out - This is a term for one of the wakeboarding tricks that means you’re straightening your leg out. When you ‘bone out grab,’ you straighten your leg while you are grabbing.
Digger - This is something you want to avoid, as it means a ‘bad wreck.’
Invert - This means that the rider has flipped upside down in the air!
Nose - This is the part of the board that’s closest to the wakeboarding boat, the tip.
Set - A set is basically your ‘turn’ on the wakeboard. Each time a rider takes a turn, he has taken a set.
These are just the very basic terms that you need to know in order to get started learning. Now when you try to talk to somebody who’s already a pro at wakeboarding, you at least should have less communication problems!
